It's really a difficult to improve ranking, particularly in a real estate site. But then hard work pays off!!

In terms of the structure of your website, you should try to make the site easy to navigate and to keep things simple. Include a site map that links to all of the pages on your website - google finds sites easier to crawl when they have a site map in place and you'll also find it a benefit with the other major search engines.

You'll also need some good inbound links to do well in google. Consider the anchor text that is being used in those inbound links - you want to use your keywords within the anchor text but don't overdo it - you may be penalized if you do.

Finally, avoid black hat techniques. Cloaking, doorway pages and hidden text are all great ways to get your website completely removed from the Yahoo rankings.

Its not that hard to doing seo for real estate sites. Real estate site has high competition. So you have to build more and more backlinks for targeted keywords. You can participate in niche forums, blog comments and submit site to related link directories.

You get good rankings by building a quality site, not by trying to figure out exactly how the search engines rank pages.

I've posed this question on another thread but I'll throw it in here. If you had $2,000 a month to blow on SEO-ing a site, what would you do? Would you still bother posting to forums/blogs, etc.

Does "writing quality content" still work? Because at great pains I update my website blog 3-4 times a week, I have decent backlinks (including business.com & yahoo.com) & I'm still being beaten by clowns who rely on forum signatures and do-follow blog comments.

To add as well: don't - whatever you do - try to rank for generic phrases such as "real estate" or "property for sale". They are too vague, too competitive, and other people with bigger pockets will always outrank you. Try to go for niche phrases "property for sale in kazakhstan", "fixer-upper in Austin, Tx" that kind of thing.

We have been trying to increase our ranking also but I think it is not really that easy you have to excel more efforts and advertise thoroughly to attain it.
