The Meta keywords tag is placed within <HEAD></HEAD> tags just before the <BODY> tag of the HTML in the Webpage. Major search engines including Yahoo, Google recommend the use of the Meta keywords tag. Meta keywords tag consist the list f important keywords that the search engine spiders or crawlers or bots can read and relate to the webpage. Pick up the most important keywords for inclusion in the Meta keywords tag. Separate the keywords in the Meta keywords tag with commas. Make sure that the keywords used in the Meta keywords tag are the same keywords used within the webpage. Never use any trademarks as keywords in the Meta keywords tag, trademarks are protected by law and should not be used without permission even within the Meta tags which are invisible to the visitors.

Meta tags are those that shows on the SERPs list of website when you search on SE's. It mainly helps for crawlers to recognize and read what your website/page is all about.

Meta tags has three type meta description,keywords,title tag.Meta tags provide additional information abut their pages to search engines.It is interact with the web server.

Meta keywords tag was very useful in helping pages to win on search engines. Unfortunately, so many conscienceless webmasters have abused the meta keywords tag that search engines have had to de-emphasize their importance. Still, you should not leave the meta keywords tag off your pages.

I just want to say that the Meta tag in html is not a required tag when you're creating your web pages many pages don't use the tag at all, and I must confess that I've not used it on my home page, although I put it into this page by way of demonstration. To put it briefly, the meta tag is used by search engines to allow them to more accurately list your site in their indexes.

Great info. Meta tags are very important in off page optimization and one should be really careful in using them. One important things is that we shouldn't overuse them.

The meta keywords tag no longer affects your search ranking because it has been abused by so many webmasters.
