I wouldn't worry much about Page Rank. Google changes page rank when it wants, and it really doesn't have much to do with how good a site really is. What matters is rankings. What matters is where Google places your website.

Page rank is updated 3 to 4 times a year on the official page rank toolbar. However your current page rank may be a lot different than what the toolbar says, as your pagerank is actually updated on the fly by Google when the sites are spidered.

Page rank only means how many sites are linked to your page, and what quality those sites are passing link juice to your site.

I'd focus more on having good content than page rank however.

Well, cause PageRank shows the authority of your website among other websites on the niche your websites is into. The higher the PR, the higher authority you have meaning your website is linking to relevant sites as well.

a good page rank is an indication or a good sign that your site is doing well , but please bear in mind that there is more to seo that a good PR , i think it is wiser to find ways to get more traffic & better online exposure and better SERP and make these the first priorities,
