Daily Press takes home 10 awards at NMPA Convention
The Daily Press took home 10 awards in the 2017 New Mexico Press Association Better Newspaper Contest ... She also took home two second-place awards — one for Real Estate Advertisement, and one for Community/Newspaper Event Advertisement.

Daily Press Reporter Benjamin Fisher continued his streak with another first-place award for his reporting in the Environmental or Agriculture Writing categoryThis year, his winning piece was “Molding the Mimbres,” about a partnership between New Mexico Game and Fish and The Nature Conservancy to rebuild habitat along the Mimbres River for two endangered native species — the Chihuahua chub and Chiricahua leopard frogs.
“Nice job explaining a complicated topic to a general readership,” the judges wrote.
Last year, Fisher swept the category, taking home both first- and second-place awards.
Sports Editor Dean Thompson took home second place for Best Sports Photo, and the Press took home second-place awards for Best News Coverage and Editorials.
“We maintain the largest newsroom in the area,” Seibel said, “and I’ve always believed it’s the best newsroom of its size in the stateFor the past four years, our staff has been recognized for the hard work they do to cover Grant County, each year bringing home more awards than the year before.”

The Daily Press competes in the Daily Class 2 category, with other daily newspapers across the state with circulations under 11,000.
