3 Wichita homes struck in drive-by shootings; man hurt

Wichita police say a 27-year-old man was hurt in a drive-by shooting on New Year's Day, and detectives are investigating its possible connection to two other shooting incidents.Officers were first called just before 11 p.mMonday to a drive-by shooting in the 2400 block of East Mosley, near PawneeA home there had been struck several times by gunfireNone of the three adults in the home were hurt.A white Chrysler and a dark vehicle were seen in the area at the time of the shooting.A few minutes later, officers responded to another drive-by shooting in the 1600 block of East Crowley, which is about 1.5 miles southeast of the first shooting.Officer Charley Davidson said police found a man in the home who had suffered gunshot wounds to his leg and shoulderHe was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. One of the remaining five adults in the home on Crowley suffered a minor head injury.A nearby home was also hit by gunfireThe two adults and four children in the house were not hurt.Officer Davidson said officers were called moments later to the report of a suspicious person in a gray Chrysler 300 firing numerous shots into the air near Hydraulic and MacArthur. Sedgwick County deputies responded and locate a stolen white Chrysler 300 in the 4300 block of East Deer Lakes Street, near 47th and K-15Deputies also found a 32-year-old man and a firearm in the area. The man was booked into jail for outstanding warrantsInvestigators are working to determine whether the incidents and the man arrested are connected.Previous story:One person is in critical condition following a shooting in south Wichita.Emergency crews arrived to the scene near Crowley and South Hydraulic just before 11 p.mon Monday.We expect to get an update from Wichita police at their 10 a.mmedia briefing on TuesdayWatch it here wnad_52.load();
