READ: The Story Of Cyntoia Brown, A Child Sex Slave Imprisoned For Killing Her Abuser, Has Resurfaced As the Tennessean reports: “A legal response filed Wednesday in the 6th U.SCircuit Court of Appeals says a state court’s rejection of Cyntoia Brown’s appeal didn’t contradict U.SSupreme Court precedent about cruel and unusual punishment.” Brown is currently serving a life sentence for a murder that occurred back in 2004. Brown, then 16 years-old, was picked up by Nashville, Tennessee, real estate agent Johnny Mitchell Allen, who had solicited her for sex. “He lay down with her but didn’t fall asleepHe kept getting up and standing over herShe became more panicked, convinced something was going to happen to her,” a report previously said“Finally, she shrugged off his advances and, as he rolled over, she took a gun from her purse and shot him once in the head.” Ultimately, she was sentenced to life in prison, only eligible for parole after serving 51 years. Although Brown’s legal team has argued that Brown shot Allen because she feared for her life, prosecutors for the state continue to justify her life sentence, claiming that she shot him in order to steal from him. Celebrities such as Rihanna and Kim Kardashian West have called for Brown’s release. Shawn Holley, Kardashian’s lawyer, was recruited by the entrepreneur and TV personality to assist in Brown’s case. “Kim asked me several weeks ago how she could help Alice Johnson in her fight for justiceWe then began corresponding with Alice and her team of lawyers,” Holley said to the New York Daily News“Since then, Kim has championed the cause of Cyntoia Brown and asked me to help her get involved in that effort as well.” Source: Tennessean.com (function() { var zergnet = document.createElement('script'); zergnet.type = 'text/javascript'; zergnet.async = true; zergnet.src = 'http://www.zergnet.com/zerg.js?id=42970'; var znscr = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; znscr.parentNode.insertBefore(zergnet, znscr); })(); (function(){ var initialLoadAds_advertisement_3_300x250_300x600_5a8efbe3a7622 = function( isMobile ){ if (! isMobile ){ CMNUNT.load('300x250,300x600', { containerId : 'advertisement_3_300x250_300x600_5a8efbe3a7622', lazyLoad: true }); } else { CMNUNT.load('content', { containerId : 'advertisement_3_300x250_300x600_5a8efbe3a7622' }); } return true; }; var firstAdsLoaded_advertisement_3_300x250_300x600_5a8efbe3a7622 = false; if( document.readyState === 'complete' && ! firstAdsLoaded_advertisement_3_300x250_300x600_5a8efbe3a7622 ){ firstAdsLoaded_advertisement_3_300x250_300x600_5a8efbe3a7622 = initialLoadAds_advertisement_3_300x250_300x600_5a8efbe3a7622( isMobile ); } else { document.addEventListener( 'readystatechange', function(){ if( document.readyState === 'complete' && ! firstAdsLoaded_advertisement_3_300x250_300x600_5a8efbe3a7622 ){ firstAdsLoaded_advertisement_3_300x250_300x600_5a8efbe3a7622 = initialLoadAds_advertisement_3_300x250_300x600_5a8efbe3a7622( isMobile ); } }); } })(); You might also like South Carolina Lawmakers Propose Bill Banning Saggy Pants On Men … 23 hours ago News Amber Rose Calls Out Kanye Protege Ian Connor: 'He’s Actually R… 2 days ago News RKelly Evicted From Georgia Homes Where Alleged 'Sex Cult' Was … 2 days ago News 'Black Panther: The Album' Debuts At No1 On Billboard 3 days ago News Joe Jackson Responds to Quincy Jones' Claim That Michael Jackson … 3 days ago News Viola Davis On Hollywood Naming Her The Black Meryl Streep: 'Pay … 6 days ago News Our Newsletter Keep In Touch Email address: Sign Up Follow us on Social Media (function(){ var initialLoadAds_advertisement_4_100x100_5a8efbe3ab662 = function( isMobile ){ if (! isMobile ){ CMNUNT.load('100x100', { containerId : 'advertisement_4_100x100_5a8efbe3ab662', lazyLoad: true }); } else { CMNUNT.load('interstitial', { containerId : 'advertisement_4_100x100_5a8efbe3ab662' }); } return true; }; var firstAdsLoaded_advertisement_4_100x100_5a8efbe3ab662 = false; if( document.readyState === 'complete' && ! firstAdsLoaded_advertisement_4_100x100_5a8efbe3ab662 ){ firstAdsLoaded_advertisement_4_100x100_5a8efbe3ab662 = initialLoadAds_advertisement_4_100x100_5a8efbe3ab662( isMobile ); } else { document.addEventListener( 'readystatechange', function(){ if( document.readyState === 'complete' && ! firstAdsLoaded_advertisement_4_100x100_5a8efbe3ab662 ){ firstAdsLoaded_advertisement_4_100x100_5a8efbe3ab662 = initialLoadAds_advertisement_4_100x100_5a8efbe3ab662( isMobile ); } }); } })(); About Subscribe Contact Advertise Privacy Policy Shop Boards Okayplayer's Mission is to carry the Creativity, Conversation and Critical thought of the original Okayplayer Artists Collective into limitless arena of digital space.
