Interstate 17 northbound reopens in Phoenix


The Arizona Department of Transportation says northbound Interstate 17 was closed at Van Buren Street in central Phoenix due to a police situation.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says northbound Interstate 17 was closed at Van Buren Street in central Phoenix due to a police situation.ADOT informed drivers to avoid the area by taking Interstate 10 at the Split interchange east of downtown Phoenix and reconnecting with I-17 at the Stack interchange to the west of downtown.The Department of Public Safety says the police situation was a pedestrian threatening to jump.  That person is now in police custody.  Their name was not released.
