WYOMING, Minn- A Wyoming woman battling a debilitating and very rare lung disease was the victim of thieves who targeted a benefit held in her honor. A benefit for Heidi Willcocks was held two weeks ago at the Pinehaven Farm in WyomingThree hundred people gave donations to help Willcocks cover her medical bills. "I watched my girlfriend pull handfuls of envelopes out of the boots and put them into the box," Heidi Willcocks said of her benefit"Money, money, money." But while the boots used to collect the donations were still there, the money was gone. The story is just like the cash and cards missing at two wedding receptions last month in Ham Lake and Brooklyn ParkPolice don't know if the Wyoming theft is connected, but they say the cases are all similar. "They were stealing the compassion and generosity of people coming together to help someone," said Wyoming Police Chief Paul Hoppe. A surveillance video shows two men and a woman investigators say stole at the weddings and maybe the benefit as well, but they still need the right tip to break the case. "Somebody saw something," Hoppe said. "Just tell us what you know," said Willcocks. (
