Facebook Twitter Email Print Save Abelina Magaña was an award-winning real estate agent who sometimes sold two homes per day — until her husband shot her 15 times on Oct12, 2007 in their Novato home and then shot himself to death, leaving Magaña quadriplegic. The single mother of three has been planning to go back to work, and on Thursday, Magaña got what she needs to be able do that: A wheelchair-accessible minivan. “I am so happy,” said Magaña“I already have clients waiting for me.” The 2002 Chrysler minivan was paid for by donations, including those generated at a pasta dinner and auction that were held on May 8 at the Novato Youth Center. But the minivan’s engine didn’t work, and its paint job was shot when Teddy Attell, a real estate broker who worked with Magaña at Frank Howard Allen’s Novato office, found the van in the Los Angeles area. Enter Novato Ford, which replaced the minivan’s six-cylinder engine with a brand new one — a donation worth $7,000 — and put on a new set of tires and did other workBlake’s Auto Body gave the van a shiny, new paint job, and Precision Auto Detailing fixed the headlight basketsAll the work was donated. Novato Ford also presented Magaña with a check for $4,000 Thursday. “Her needs are going to be lifelong,” Ali Omoomy, the owner of Novato Ford, told the Advance, adding, “We’re not going to forget about her.” The van is set up so that, at a touch of a button, the van will “kneel,” or lower itself closer to the ground
