A man who was sought in connection with an alleged real estate fraud in Quincy was apprehended in Florida. The U.SAttorney’s Office says 67-year-old Scott JWolas was arrested Friday in Delray Beach. Wolas is accused by criminal complaint with wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in connection with the proposed development of the former Beachcomber Bar property and the adjoining lot in Quincy. Court documents allege that from at least 2009 through 2016 he operated a real estate business known as Increasing Fortune, Incand worked as a licensed real estate agent for Century 21 using the name Eugene Grathwohl. He is accused of collecting more than $1.5 million from at least 19 investors allegedly promising to pay out at least 125 percent of the profits related to the single-family home construction. However, a week before Wolas was scheduled to close on the Beachcomber property he left Quincy and ceased all contact with his then-girlfriend, his co-workers, and his investors. It was then discovered that Grathwohl was actually Wolas, a former lawyer who was charged with fraud and grand larceny in New York, and a fugitive since 1997. Wolas made an initial appearance in the U.SDistrict Court in the Southern District of Florida (West Palm Beach Division) on Friday. He is expected to appear in federal court in Boston at a later date.   Advertising (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); About Dan McCready Dan McCready is a South Shore native who’s happy to be back working in his home region.
