HOUSTON (AP) - The sheriff of Harris County says a deputy "should have found other options" rather than fatally shooting a man within a minute of arriving on the scene of a disturbance at a Houston intersection Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Wednesday that the incident is still being investigated but he finds it "concerning" that deputy Cameron Brewer quickly used lethal force rather than trying to de-escalate the situation Gonzalez says 34-year-old Danny Ray Thomas was unarmed and "in a state of crisis" when he was seen walking in the street March 22 with his pants at his ankles The deputy had responded to an altercation that started after Thomas allegedly struck passing cars with his hands Brewer's dash-cam and other video shows Thomas continuing to walk toward Brewer as the deputy orders him to the ground
